iOs 4.2.5 on Verizon iPhone 4 Features Personal Hotspot Internet Connection Sharing

January 12th, 2011

The Verizon iPhone rumor is now over after Verizon Wireless announced the highly anticipated arrival of Verizon iPhone 4 on their CDMA network. The new Verizon-compatible iPhone 5 sports a “Personal Hotspot” feature that seems to be built right into the OS under Settings.app. This new feature will allow CDMA iPhone 4 users to connect 5 Wi-Fi and 3G enabled devices. Recently, Apple confirms that the new “Personal Hotspot” will be included in regular iPhone 4 after apple released the iOS 4.3 to the public.

Unsurprisingly, because of the new technology, Apple redesigned its iPhone 4, which was powered by iOS 4.2.5(8E128), to adapt Verizon CDMA radio stack. Aside for the buttons and antenna relocation, Personal Hotspot, and new operating system, the Verizon iPhone 4 is quite familiar with AT&T/GSM iPhones that are still on iOS 4.2.1.

Verizon iPhone 4 will become available on February 10th.Verizon Wireless will start taking pre orders starting from February 3. Verizon wireless will start accepting pre orders on February 3. The 16GB model will cost $199.99 and the 32GB model $299.99 with two year contract. Stay tuned.

                      Redsn0w 0.9.7 Beta 6 Fixes Skype Problem

                      January 12th, 2011

For all of those people who have been having problems with Skype after using Redsn0w 0.9.7 there is great news. The 6th Beta release of Redsn0w 0.9.7 has fixed all the Skype related issues with this untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak.

If you have been experiencing problems with Skype you can now freely run beta 6 over beta 5 without any further problems. If you are already using Redsn0w 0.9.7 with the untethered beta 5 version all you have to do is run the beta 6 version and then deselect all the checkboxes.

All the Bluetooth and Skype issues have been fixed with the Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 6 release and the iPhone Dev team have stated that they are now working on porting the Monte technique back to iOS 4.1. This will actually allow users to untether the iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch without having to have 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved on Cydia.

If you are looking to jailbreak your iPhone using the Redsn0w 0.9.7 tool there are some great tutorials out there that will show you step by step how to do it. Jailbreaking your iPhone will allow you to add all the third party apps that you want and you will also have access to Cydia which is an app store where non Apple approved apps can be found.

Below is a video by Redmond Pie that will walk you through everything.

Recently, the iPhone Dev Team releases a two version of Redsn0, the Redsn0w 0.9.7 untethered jailbreak and Redsn0w 0.9.6 tethered jailbreak. Both Redsn0w has a capability to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 running on iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The Dev Team’s Redsn0w 0.9.7 “backup plan” ca untethered jailbreak new devices such as the iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch 4G.

But it looks like that the iPhone jailbreak community will see a new untethered jailbreak. Unlike the Redsn0w 0.9.6 tethered jailbreak, the Chronic Dev Team is working on a new Greenpois0n for iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak that will “untethered jailbreak” iOS devices. Joshua Hill, aka p0sixninja, the one of the hacker behind Greenpois0n for iOS 4.1 and beyond confirmed via tweet that they have their own version of untethered jailbreak.

“p0sixninja: A lot of people are saying another tethered jailbreak is pointless, I agree. Focusing on getting untethered before release”

In addition, p0sixninja also confirmed that the Chronic Dev Team was working and will utilize their own untethered exploit and not the ones used b the iPhone Dev team on its Redsn0ws. Their version version of untethered jailbreak will not require users to have saved SHSH blobs for 4.2 beta 3.
And it is very much likely that we will see a full version of Greenpois0n untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 because the Chronic Dev Team thinks its pointless to release a beta or “testers only” version of the jailbreak tool.

tahu363: @p0sixninja I assume you are talking about Greenpois0n? Are you implementing

                                                                          p0sixninja: @Capsfanchad lol no

Ok so here we go again, another Redsn0w 0.9.7 software update. It seems like the iPhone Dev Team is gearing to release the final version of Redsn0w 0.9.7 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch running on appleâs latest operating system, the iOS 4.2.1. Recently, the Dev Team launches the Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 to address the Bluetooth issue. Now, the sixth beta version of Redsn0w 0.9.7 was released to fix the Skype issues on jailbroken iOS device.

This of course is still using the Dev Teams “backup plan” for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak, which means you needń.2b3 SHSH saved on file(on your device) including the actual 4.2 beta 3 IPSW for the untethered part.

Here are the details of Redsn0w 0.9.7b6 update:

“The sixth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). This version fixes Skype. Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (http://pastie.org/1403214) (the links wonâ€t work unless you’re a legit developer currently logged in).

Unlike the last few betas, you can freely run beta6 over beta5 without a problem (but for testing purposes, we’d really like people to try both ways….from stock, and from already jailbroken).

Now that the sandbox, Bluetooth, and Skype issues are fixed, our next priority is porting Monte back to 4.1. We’ll also try to make the Windows version less painfully slow.”

Since the freshly baked Redns0w 0.9.7b5 and b6 fixed most of the issues on jailbroken iOS device, it’s very much likely that we will see Windows version of Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta in the next software update.

You can download Redsn0w 0.9.7b6 from the link below. Also, you can follow our step-by-step guide to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta.

This new beta requires iOS 4.2b3 and iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs in Cydia. The new Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 also includes an “Anti-piracy plea” notice for all jailbreakers stating not to pirate iOS 4.2 beta 3 firmware.

The Dev Team also confirmed the existence of the Windows version of Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 but the decided not to launch because it was extremely slow to use. It is expected that the Dev Team will release the version once they configure the problem.

                                                                                                      From the iPhone Dev Team:

“The fifth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). It really is very very painfully slow, so we probably won’t be releasing it for testing purposes unless it can be sped up somehow.”

To use Redsn0w 0.9Ǔb5, follow our step-by-step guide posted here. You can download Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 using this link.
